An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department who allegedly fondled the breasts of a dead woman in an October incident now faces one felony count of having sexual contact with human remains without authority.
According to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, 27-year-old David Rojas and his partner responded to a call where a woman had died. While he was alone in the room, the defendant allegedly touched the woman's breast.
According to reports, Officer Rojas disabled his body camera before fondling her, but it was caught on video when he turned it back on due to the buffering capability of the camera.
If convicted as charged, Rojas faces a possible maximum sentence of three years in state prison.
Arraignment will be scheduled at a later date.
