British Man Jailed for Coughing on Police Officer, Claiming COVID-19 Illness

The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday afternoon and the courts in England were quick to act.

A man in England has been sentenced for assaulting an emergency worker after claiming that he was infected with Coronavirus and threatening to cough on a police officer who had responded to a call for service at that location.

According to BBC News, the man—identified as 55-year-old Adam Lewis—told the officer: "I am Covid and I am going to cough in your face and you will get it."

The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday afternoon and the courts in England were quick to act.

Lewis was sentenced by Westminster magistrates after being convicted of assaulting an emergency worker.
