An Idaho woman now faces charges of felony assault and battery on a police officer. According to East Idaho News, police say the womanâidentified as 43-year-old Jessica Ann Morrisâapproached officers directing traffic at an intersection following a call of a gas leak, and reportedly struck at least one officer.
Morris reportedly had approached the intersection, where officers told her that it was unsafe to travel due to the possible gas leak, and that the road she had wanted to use was temporarily closed as crews addressed the public safety hazard.
According to police reports, Morris then shouted an expletive and intentionally drove at one of the officers directing traffic.
The officerâwhose name has not been releasedâreportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
If convicted, Morris faces up to five years in prison.
