The Broken Arrow (OK) Police Department is investigating the recent killing and mutilation of a Tulsa police officer’s family cat as a hate crime.

The officer and his family say they found their Bengal cat "Capone" cut into two pieces, gutted, and placed directly across the street from their home last weekend.

The Tulsa officer’s police car sits in the driveway and the family flies a “thin blue line” flag outside their home, Fox23 reports.

For that reason, investigators say they believe someone could be targeting the officer and his family.
