WA Trooper Shot in Face, Vehicle Rammed

After his patrol car was rammed, he was then shot in the face by a suspect, deputies said.

A Washington State Patrol Trooper was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after a shooting in Walla Walla.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Facebook, Trooper Dean Atkinson Jr.'s patrol car was rammed around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday. He was then shot in the face by a suspect, deputies said.

The trooper was able to drive himself to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, where he was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, Fox 13 reports.

A suspect is in custody.
