The Ocala Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department worked together Sunday to lead the recovery of a Florida Highway Patrol car that was washed away in Hardee County away during Hurricane Ian.
According to the Ocala Police Department, a trooper was in the car the night of Sept. 29 when the road washed out.
The trooper escaped through a window and swam to a tree to radio for help. He was uninjured in the incident.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports its airboat and dive team also continued operations in flooded areas Sunday as they checked abandoned homes and vehicles for potential victims.
