New York State Police have released body-worn camera video of two troopers rescuing a teenager from a burning vehicle after it struck a barn.
State police say Troopers Michael J. Winkelman and James P. Flynn-Kocourek responded to a minivan that had struck a barn in the town of Wappinger at 3:30 a.m. Sept. 22.
The video shows troopers approaching the vehicle as the fire spreads rapidly from the minivan to the barn.
Together, they acted quickly to pull a 17-year-old through the passenger’s side window and move him to safety moments before the entire structure became engulfed.
“The troopers' decisive actions likely prevented a tragedy,” New York State Police says in a social media post.
