
VIDEO: VA Company Developing Radar Gun that Detects Texting in Vehicles
A Virginia-based company called ComSonics may have the solution to that problem. According to CNN, the company is developing a radar gun that will not only tell officers the speed of the targeted but also whether someone is texting in the vehicle.

One of the greatest concerns in public safety is how to stop people from texting while driving. This distracted driving issue has led to fatal accidents and sparked attempts to enforce texting while driving laws. But enforcement of texting while driving laws is difficult because officers have no way to detect drivers texting unless they see them doing it.
A Virginia-based company called ComSonics may have the solution to that problem. According to CNN, the company is developing a radar gun that will not only tell officers the speed of the targeted but also whether someone is texting in the vehicle.
The technology detects the radio frequency of active texts. It reportedly cannot determine if the driver is texting or a passenger in the vehicle is texting. Of course, what it can do is alert officers to the probability that the driver is texting behind the wheel.
