TREXPO, the nation’s premiere trade show and conference, will return to the Long Beach (Calif.) Convention Center next week, March 22–24, with an exciting schedule of presentations, seminars, and training classes.

Returning to the TREXPO West conference program are such favorite instructors as defensive tactics specialists Hans Marrero and Louis Marquez of the Police Combative Academy, sniper training expert Capt. James Stalnaker of the San Bernardino (Calif.) Sheriff’s Department, and gang specialist Richard Valdemar of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to these always popular repeat programs, this year’s TREXPO West will feature a variety of new and exciting classes ranging from counter-terrorism tactics to first-response techniques.

Dave Martin, branch chief for mass transit passenger security at the Department of Homeland Security, will lead a program on how to prevent and how to respond to terrorism attacks affecting mass transit systems. The program includes discussion of highway, rail, and maritime passenger security measures.

Lt. R.K. Miller of the Huntington Beach (Calif.) Police Department will lead a program titled “High-Profile Tactical Incidents: Lessons Learned.” This seminar will include analysis of recent tactical incidents with a critical evaluation of what went right and what went wrong.

Victor Vella, a senior anti-terrorism specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense, will talk about “Red Team Exercises,” tactical exercises designed to test and evaluate security and law enforcement response capabilities associated with critical government facilities, airports, and seaports. The lecture will discuss how members of local law enforcement agencies can participate in these drills.

Other programs scheduled for TREXPO West include: a seminar on patrol rifles and tactical carbines, a hands-on class on integrating weapons into defensive tactics training, and a four-session conference track sponsored by the National Tactical Officers Association.
