Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has introduced the Ruger SR40c, a compact version of its SR40 striker-fired pistol introduced in October.
The SR40c is built with the same glass-filled nylon frame used in Ruger's SR line. Ergonomic features include a slim frame, short trigger reach, reversible backstrap, and ambidextrous controls. The SR40c features a stainless or alloy steel slide with Nitridox Pro Black finish and front serrations.
"The SR40c provides all of the benefits of a full-sized handgun without the recoil often associated with smaller .40-caliber pistols," according to Mike Fifer, Ruger's chief executive.

A fully adjustable three-dot sight and integral accessory rail accommodates most lights and lasers. The SR40c offers safety features such as a visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator, striker blocker, trigger safety, magazine disconnect and an ambidextrous, frame-mounted manual safety.
The SR40c ships with two magazines to provide options in both capacity and grip size. The standard magazine holds nine rounds and features a flat bottom butt plate. A finger grip extension floor plate is included. The second magazine features a grip extension and holds 15 rounds, converting the pistol's compact grip into a full-sized grip. An anti-friction coating is applied to the magazine's body to reduce the force required to load the magazines to full capacity.
Customers living in areas where magazine capacity is limited by law receive an SR40c with two, nine-round magazines.
