Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has introduced the Ruger SR40 pistol to provide a higher-caliber option in the full-sized SR Series striker-fired pistol line that includes the SR9 and SR9c.
Built on the same glass-filled nylon frame as its predecessors, the SR40 offers similar ergonomic features of the SR9 and SR9c — a slim, narrow frame with a short trigger reach, reversible backstrap for an arched or flat configuration, and ambidextrous controls. The stainless-steel slide on the SR40 is .06 inches wider than the SR9. The added mass of the slide reduces slide velocity during cycling, reducing recoil and improving service life, according to Ruger.
