Last week New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie signed a measure into law that requires police departments to mount video cameras on their new cars or provide their officers with wearable cameras.
The measure Christie signed Wednesday was advocated by Assemblyman Paul Moriarty, D-Gloucester, the Associated Press reports. Moriarty was charged in 2012 with drunken driving but was cleared with the help of evidence from a camera on the squad car of the Washington Township officer who pulled him over.
