Meggitt Training Systems (MTS) has won a contract worth approximately $5.4 million from the US Army National Guard (ARNG) to continue upgrading its virtual small-arms training program. The ARNG will purchase new weapon simulators ranging from M9 pistols to MK19 grenade launchers. Deliveries begin March 2010.
Known as Combat Skills Marksmanship Trainers (CSMTs), the systems support the Guard's training mandate covering national and international missions. Increasing dependence on the deployment of Guard personnel makes simulation training a critical part of the Guard's overall preparation regimen. Small-unit leaders use the CSMT to rehearse mission planning.
