Illinois Agency Chooses New World for CAD, Field Reporting and GPS

The department selected New World's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management, Mobile Computing and Field-based Reporting software that uses Microsoft technology, Windows Server and SQL Server.

The Lansing (Ill.) Police Department has switched to New World Systems' Aegis Public Safety Solution on the Microsoft platform to give officers and dispatchers more access to information and mapping capabilities, according to the company.

The department selected New World's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management, Mobile Computing and Field-based Reporting software that uses Microsoft technology, Windows Server and SQL Server.

"New World displays a confidence in their product, dependability and a willingness to work with agencies to ensure their needs are met," according to Chief Dennis Murrin. "During our evaluation, we had a good feeling that the company would be with us through thick and thin. After hearing positive feedback from other local area agencies, we knew we were making the right choice with New World."

New World's integrated solutions are now storing critical crime and incident information in a single location for the department, making it easier to access by officers in the field, dispatchers, investigators and command staff, according to New World.

Field-based Reporting is allowing patrol officers to complete and submit incident reports electronically from their vehicles, allowing them to stay in the community instead of returning to the station to fill out paper forms.

Embedded GIS Mapping capabilities and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) within New World's software are providing dispatchers and officers with more location information than ever before. According to Chief Murrin, knowing the whereabouts of each patrol unit in the community is key to improving officer safety. The new mapping capabilities will also make it possible for the department to analyze crime statistics based on locations in Lansing.

"No other project has had such a multi-dimensional impact on our police department," according to Chief Murrin. "New World's software has a positive effect on everybody who works here, from the dispatchers who receive a call to patrol officers on the street and back to our evidence and property personnel."

In addition to providing more information to officers and dispatchers, New World's solutions will also make it possible for the department to extract and present safety and crime information to the village's population of more than 29,000 residents.

"We're thrilled to see the Lansing Police Department going live this month after such a smooth and successful implementation, and to be adding them to the growing list of public safety agencies in Illinois and across the country who rely on New World's solutions," said Mark Prevost, New world's vice president of marketing.
