Vievu brought its third-generation on-officer video system and a compact "pro" on-body camera for police to the 2013 IACP Conference in Philadelphia.
Vievu's LE3 offers several upgrades from the previous LE2, including a more robust battery, additional on-board storage, and more memory, enabling high-definition video capture.
The LE3 records on-body video in either high definition (1280x720) or standard definition (848x480) via a lens offering a 68-degree field of view. It offers four-hour recording time and 16GB of internal storage. It arrives with Vievu's Veripatrol video management software with Vidlock security that locks access to the camera if the unit is lost or stolen.
The LE3 is available now with a suggested retail price of $899.
The company also introduced the Vievu² rugged compact camera that's about half the size of the LE3. The square-shaped camera also records in high-def (1280x720) and standard-def (640x480) modes via a lens allowing a 95-degree point of view. It offers 90 minutes of recording time, 16GB of on-board storage, and live video streaming capability via 802.11 g/n wireless.
The Vievu² is rated for waterproof operation (IPX5) and includes a smartphone app to record, edit, and share footage. The camera is available now with a suggested retail price of $349.
