Fort Worth Adopts TASER Axon Flex On-Body Video System
The Fort Worth (Texas) Police Department has begun using TASER Axon Flex on-body video systems for its force and showed off some of the new units to the media on Tuesday.
The Fort Worth (Texas) Police Department has begun using TASER Axon Flex on-body video systems for its force and showed off some of the new units to the media on Tuesday.
After Fort Worth PD officers began purchasing the units in 2012, the agency began formal testing and issued 50 units to patrol officers in May. The agency ordered 145 more and hopes to have 500 in operation within two years, Cpl. Tracey Knight told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The agency will also begin issuing Axon Flex camera systems to gang units and the SWAT team. The agency now counts 700 sworn officers.
The 145 units in the current order cost about $670,000, which includes storage of the footage on Evidence.com, TASER's cloud-based storage service. The units should arrive by Oct. 1.
The DFW International Airport's Department of Public Safety also ordered TASER Axon Flex systems, TASER announced.
