Police lauded for '99 editorial achievements
TORRANCE, Calif. — Police magazine was honored for the second consecutive year during annual Bobit Publishing in-house "Eddy Award" ceremonies that paid tribute to editorial excellence during 1999 within the company's 19 varied publications.
Executive Editor Dennis Hall received the "Best Feature Article" award for his in-depth January story titled "Defibrillators Charging Up America's Law Enforcement Response." The magazine was also a finalist for "Best Cover" with its entry from June on the Columbine High School massacre.
The previous year, Police was honored for its November 1998 "Suicide By Cop" cover while Hall and Senior Editor Rebecca Stone won the "Best Show Coverage" award for their reporting on the International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
