We also asked the readers of PoliceMag.com and our various electronic newsletters for information on innovative police programs and the individuals who lead them.

Five agencies and leaders that developed programs to help officers and their communities.

Specifically, we were looking for programs that enhanced officer safety, officer health, officer morale, officer productivity, crime prevention and response, and community relations. Some of the issues that we wanted to address included: leadership development, technology applications, recruiting and retention programs, training courses, crime prevention campaigns, and community relations initiatives.
The response to our request for nominations was excellent. We went through them all, and we have selected five agencies to cover in this year’s article.
