The "Shots Fired" feature has been a mainstay in the pages of Police Magazine since mid-2005, and online in more recent years. These often harrowing tales of officers under fire from hell-bent subjects have taught us many things about courage under fire.
In September, author Dean Scoville wrote the 100th "Shots Fired" feature. Rather than an individual narrative, it was a celebration of the officers appearing in the first 99 features.
Because these narratives often pulse with the urgency of the life-threatening situations faced by these heroic officers, we've decided they should more than leap off the page. We've decided to present them as audio podcasts.
We've brought aboard Dan Hazeltine, whose steady voice will narrate the stories for your listening pleasure. The podcasts will be available in the same places you'll find our other podcasts—on our Website, in iTunes, and on other podcast directories.
You can expect a new "Shots Fired" podcast each month from our archive. We picked some of your favorites to start out, including Skokie (Ill.) Police Officer Tim Gramins' pursuit of a bank robbery suspect that ended in a deadly duel. You can listen to it here.
