Three SWAT officers serving an arrest warrant were wounded and a homicide suspect was killed during a shooting in North Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

One officer was shot in the hip, another in the leg and the third in the chest. The officer shot in the chest was reportedly saved by body armor.

The officers were taken to a local hospital. They are listed in stable condition, 6ABC reports.

The murder suspect, described as a 19-year-old man, was also shot. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputy Police Commissioner John Stanford told NBC Philadelphia the officers took gunfire through the door and window of the home as they attempt to knock unannounced.

Officers pushed forward and managed to get into the home as they continued to take more gunfire, Stanford said.

The shooter then ran through the home and tried to flee out of the back of the home, Stanford said. Officers in the back of the home then exchanged gunfire with the suspect.
