A Georgia deputy is recovering after being stabbed multiple time by a detainee at the Fulton County Jail early Monday morning.

Sheriff Patrick "Pat" Labat says the detainee had been brought to the jail by Atlanta police late Sunday night for an incident in which the person had been charged with misdemeanor terroristic threats. The deputy was attacked during processing and stabbed several times.

Officials tell FOX5 the deputy is in stable condition and in good spirits. At last report, the sheriff said the deputy will not need surgery.
