VA Officer Shot While Approaching Suspicious Vehicles

A Norfolk, VA, police is recovering after being shot Wednesday night as he approached two suspicious vehicles. Police report the injury to the officer is not life threatening.

A Norfolk, VA, police is recovering after being shot Wednesday night as he approached two suspicious vehicles. Police report the injury to the officer is not life threatening.

Officers were on patrol around 9:30 p.m. when they noticed two suspicious vehicles stopped in the road. Police tell WAVY that when officers approached, a man near the vehicles began firing at police.

Two officers immediately fired back, police report, and the suspects fled. One suspect was soon detained.

Norfolk Interim Police Chief Michael Goldsmith has requested assistance from the Virginia State Police to investigate the shooting.
