NY Trooper Alleges Sexual Harassment in Federal Lawsuit Against Cuomo, State Police

The trooper alleged Cuomo subjected her to sexual remarks and on occasion ran his hand or fingers across her stomach and her back.

A New York state trooper who testified that former Gov. Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed her filed a lawsuit Thursday. She is asking a federal court to declare that Cuomo, a top aide, and state police violated her civil rights.

The trooper’s name was not disclosed in the lawsuit, which did name Cuomo, New York State Police, and Cuomo’s former top aide Melissa DeRosa.

The suit seeks attorney fees, damages for “severe mental anguish and emotional distress,” and a declaratory judgment that Cuomo, DeRosa and state police violated civil laws on the federal, state, and city level prohibiting sexual harassment, KCRG reported.

In the lawsuit, CBSNewYork reports, the trooper says Cuomo requested her to be part of his security detail, then groped and sexually harassed her. Cuomo’s former top aide Melissa DeRosa is accused of helping to hide his conduct, according to the lawsuit. The trooper alleged Cuomo subjected her to sexual remarks and on occasion ran his hand or fingers across her stomach and her back.

A spokesperson for New York State Police declined comment.
