GA Corrections Officer Shot Outside Prison, 1 Suspect Dead and 1 in Custody

Officers working the drop came across one of the suspects, 26-year-old Marquavious Parks, and one of the officers was shot.

A Georgia Department of Corrections officer was shot Sunday night while he worked to stop a contraband drop at Washington State Prison.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says two men were there around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for a contraband delivery.

Officers working the drop came across one of the suspects, 26-year-old Marquavious Parks, and one of the officers was shot, officials told WMAZ.

That officer was transported to a hospital in Augusta with non-life-threatening injuries, and has since been released.

Parks was later found dead in a nearby pond. A second suspect John Frank Snow, 51, was later taken into custody.
