A 25-year veteran Ohio Department of Natural Resources wildlife officer was shot in the line of duty Sunday afternoon, officials said.

Kevin Behr was investigating a deer poaching complaint in Clinton County when the shooting occurred, according to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.

Behr was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. On Monday morning, he was listed in stable condition, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Three men were arrested following the shooting.

Authorities have not charged any of the men with shooting Officer Behr. However, the Ohio Division of Wildlife confirmed Behr was shot "by a suspect." They have been charged with weapon and hunting offenses.
