Colorado Officers Shoot Man Who Refused Commands to Drop Weapon

Officers with the Lakewood (CO) Police Department shot and wounded a man who refused commands to drop a weapon he was holding.

Officers with the Lakewood (CO) Police Department shot and wounded a man who refused commands to drop a weapon he was holding.

According to the Denver Post, the man—whose name has not been released—had been causing a disturbance at an apartment complex causing residents to call 911 on Sunday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered the man and told him to drop an unspecified weapon.

Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman said, "Our officers challenged him and ordered him to drop the weapon and he did not. In return, our officers responded to the threat.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where his condition is presently unknown.

No officers were injured in the incident.
