Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was asked by an attendee of a political forum on Saturday what he should do when being pulled over by an officer at a traffic stop, and his reply went viral on the Internet.

According to CBS News, Sanders stood on the podium at the Second Step Presidential Justice Forum at Benedict College, a historically black college, and replied to the young man, "Respect what they are doing so that you don't get shot in the back of the head."

He added that he believes that "as a nation, we have got to hold police officers accountable."

Another person present at the event posted video of the comments to Twitter, which quickly got thousands of "likes" and "retweets."

Later in the event, a young African-American woman asked Joe Biden a similar question, presenting the hypothetical that she was Biden's daughter.

The former vice president and presumptive Democratic Party front-runner replied, "If you were my daughter, you'd be a Caucasian girl and you wouldn't be pulled over. That's what's wrong."
