California Officer Crashes Into Utility Pole, Knocks Out Power to Thousands

An officer with the San Jose (CA) Police Department lost control of his patrol vehicle early Friday morning, left the roadway and collided with a utility pole, knocking out electrical power to an estimated 6,200 PG&E customers.

An officer with the San Jose (CA) Police Department lost control of his patrol vehicle early Friday morning, left the roadway and collided with a utility pole, knocking out electrical power to an estimated 6,200 PG&E customers.

According to KTVU-TV, the officer—whose name has not been released—was unharmed, despite serious damage to the SUV.

Officials declined to reveal how fast the officer was traveling at the time of the collision.
