A motor officer with the California Highway Patrol was struck by a passing vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Fox News, at least four civilian vehicles stopped to help the injured officer.
The officer had begun a traffic break for a dispatched call of a pedestrian holding a pick ax on the freeway when he was struck by a Nissan Versa driven by a 33-year-old woman.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The name of the officer was not immediately released.
