Kentucky Officer Assaulted During Traffic Stop

An officer with the Tompkinsville (KY) Police Department was assaulted by a male and female couple during a traffic stop on Wednesday night, leaving the officer with minor injuries including a scraped elbow and a black eye.

An officer with the Tompkinsville (KY) Police Department was assaulted by a male and female couple during a traffic stop on Wednesday night, leaving the officer with minor injuries including a scraped elbow and a black eye, police say.

According to ABC News, the officer made the traffic stop due to an extinguished tail light and before he could get out of his patrol vehicle the man and woman had exited their vehicle and began approaching the squad car.

The officer exited his vehicle and an altercation ensued. The officer was eventually able to gain compliance by drawing his TASER.

The officer refused treatment for his injuries.
