A K-9 with the Coos County (OR) Sheriff's Office suffered serious injury when it was struck by hundreds of porcupine quills during a pursuit of a wanted subject over the weekend.

According to ABC News, a deputy spotted a subject he knew to be wanted on several felony warrants.

The subject fled and deputies called in K-9 Odin to conduct an apprehension track for the subject. During the search, the K-9 encountered a porcupine and was struck by more than 200 quills.

The track was immediately suspended and Odin was transported to a nearby veterinary hospital where he was sedated and treated.

The suspect—identified as 29-year-old Devin Wilson of Coos Bay—remains at large.
