Texas Deputy in Critical Condition After Being Shot at Traffic Stop

According to the El Paso Times, Deputy Peter Herrera was shot several times during the incident. He remains in critical condition and has had several surgeries.

A deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was badly wounded when an offender got out of his car at a traffic stop and opened fire.

According to the El Paso Times, Deputy Peter Herrera was shot several times during the incident.  

Herrera had pulled over 27-year-old Facundo Chavez for a traffic violation. Chavez shot Herrera and then fled on foot but was apprehended by responding officers soon thereafter.

Herrera remains in critical condition and has had several surgeries.
