The Cleveland Division of Police has chosen a custom-configured Stag Arms Model 2 rifle as the official rifle of the department. The rifles are being delivered this week, according to the company.
The department acquired a rifle that's budget friendly and fulfills the department's needs, according to a release. Stag Arms equipped the department with 100 rifles that include the department's logo engraved on the lower receiver. The rifles will also feature an EoTech 517 sight and an ambidextrous safety selector.
"The new rifles are necessary for today's climate and will be standard issue for officers who meet the qualifications," said Sgt. Sammy Morris.
The rifles will replace standard-issue shotguns now being used by the department. "Perhaps the greatest advantage is the pinpoint accuracy - they also weigh less, are more compact, hold 20 rounds compared to 5, and are much easier to operate with reduced recoil."
