Blackheart International has introduced the AKARS (AK Adaptive Rail System) that's designed and manufactured by Parabellum Armament for AK-type rifles, according to the company.
The AKARS provides a four-point mounting platform to improve accuracy with AK-type rifles and their variants. AK-type rifles have never been friendly to optical sighting systems because of the receiver cover design, which does not provide for a solid mounting solution for conventional optics, according to Blackheart.
The rifle has inherent problems such as sight instability, receiver access, and the inability to utilize the OEM iron sights as a backup that cause loss of accuracy.
The AKARS is comprised of a robust receiver cover with an integrated rail adapter, and a one-piece 1913 Picatinny rail/rear sight assembly and attaching hardware. The design is remarkably simple, and effectively resolves all of the problems historically associated with mounting optics to AK rifles.
The hinged design of the rail mount allows the AKARS/sight assembly to lift up and out of the way for easy access to the AK receiver. This permits operators to perform routine cleaning, maintenance and address firing/feed malfunctions without removing the optic or losing the rifle's zero.
Because of its positive four-point mounting, precision machining and intelligent design, the AKARS delivers the targeting solution AK users have long been seeking for their AK47, AKM, AK74 and AK variants.
