The man who was fatally shot by a Miami Police officer after chewing off a homeless man's face was not under the influence of "bath salts" during the attack.
Rudy Eugene had only marijuana in his system, according to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's office.
On May 26, Rudy Eugene, 31, stripped off the clothes of Ronald Poppo, 65, on the Miami causeway in a daylight attack that was partially captured by a surveillance camera. Following the attack, the president of the Miami police union speculated that the attack was caused by the synthetic drugs.
The medical examiner found no evidence of the common components of "bath salts" in Eugene's system. Nor did the lab find evidence of synthetic marijuana or LSD, reports the Miami Herald.
