Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin has called the release of Lakewood cop-killing suspect Maurice Clemmons, 37, in 2000 by then Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee a "Willie Horton moment."
The comment references a convicted murderer who committed an assault and rape while on furlough in Massachusetts. The Horton case was a major issue in the 1988 presidential campaign between Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis and then Vice President George H. W. Bush.
