Safariland has introduced Ballast—its most advanced duty holster for law enforcement professionals—at the 2025 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
Extensive feedback from the field and design improvements have shaped the functionality of the Ballast holster. It’s lightweight and durable design stands up to the toughest conditions. A proprietary crush-resistant design shields Ballast’s internal components, and, unique to Ballast, a new Ingress Guard to mitigate access inside the holster, Safariland says.
“Ballast was created with the safety of law enforcement and patrol officers in mind,” said Eric Gasvoda, vice president and general manager of duty gear for Safariland. “We took decades of feedback into consideration when creating the Ballast, and know we have created our most advanced duty-rated holster.”
Key features of the Safariland Ballast include:
• Open Muzzle design allows for easy pass-through of debris
• Removable RDS Optic lid to protect lens from impact and debris
• Red Dot Sight compatible
• Very high heat and low cold tolerances structurally sound from 160 F to -50 F
• Compatible with all Safariland 3-hole pattern holster mounts and accessories
With a minimalist footprint, Ballast maximizes duty belt efficiency, allowing patrol officers to carry full-sized firearms without sacrificing belt space, Safariland says.
An internalized ALS lever lock spring shields the core security mechanism of the Ballast. The textured ALS lever allows for improved thumb contact ergonomics. For added versatility, a redesigned cantable belt mount that supports 15 degrees forward or rearward angles or vertical alignment for maximum comfort and an efficient draw stroke.
