Arizona Adopts U.S. Cavalry Duty Pistol As State Gun

The Colt Single Action Army revolver, which became the U.S. Cavalry's service sidearm in 1873, is now the official state firearm of Arizona.

Gov. Jan Brewer officially signed legislation making the revolver the state gun because of its wide use in the territorial days before statehood.
