Simoco Debuts P25 Infrastructure Products at IWCE
The United Kingdom-based company's SB2025 P25 digital base station and the Solar 2 P25 IP Simulcast Solution target medium-sized wide area public safety network deployments and mission critical commercial applications, according to Simoco.
The Simoco Group unveiled several P25 infrastructure products at IWCE 2011, the trade show for two-way radio manufacturers this week in Las Vegas.
The United Kingdom-based company's SB2025 P25 digital base station and the Solar 2 P25 IP Simulcast Solution target medium-sized wide area public safety network deployments and mission critical commercial applications, according to Simoco.
"In 2009 we entered the American P25 market with mobiles and portables that delivered a new compact, robust design and challenged the price points of traditional P25 products," according to Ian Carr, Simoco's chief executive. "With the launch of our new infrastructure solutions, Simoco continues to challenge the market, delivering smarter, more affordable P25 technologies that can be utilized to maximum effect by dealers and customers currently excluded by the cost and complexity of the solutions."
The SB2025 P25 base station, which arrives in a 2U form factor that can be surface mounted, employs a PA heatsink and can be deployed in the harshest and most remote environments.
Solar 25 Simulcast extends Simoco's range of Simulcast-over-IP products to the P25 environment, offering efficient, reliable solutions to interference when channels are duplicated in a wide area radio network. By leveraging digital VoIP, Solar 25 enables the synchronisation of P25 duplicated signals to be "processor controlled," which eliminates the need for complex engineering associated with traditional simulcast and reduces the cost of ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
"The Solar 25 Simulcast solution eliminates many of the complexities associated with traditional analog solutions, opening up tremendous new opportunities for both dealers and customers to participate in the digital P25 community," accordiing to Andy Grimmett, Simoco's chief technical officer.
Features of the Simoco SB2025 P25 base station also include frequency coverage from 30 MHz to 960 MHz; extended low frequency RX discriminator and TX modular response (DC to 3.4KHz) to allow paging and data applications; crossbanding through independent TX and RX functionality; programmable parameters for each channel, which includes frequency, power, CTCSS/DCS, RF mode and channel bandwidth.
