TASER International announced today that the Salt Lake City Police Department and the Birmingham Police Department have selected Evidence.com to securely store and manage all of the digital evidence from their AXON body cameras and other digital devices. Both departments secured a five-year subscription with Evidence.com in the third quarter of 2014.

Today, police agencies rely on multiple devices to capture the best evidence including cell phones, dash-cameras, interview room cameras, digital cameras, surveillance cameras, and now body cameras. TASER says the Evidence.com solution eliminates the headache and cost of having to manage evidence captured on multiple devices by automating the upload process and ensuring the security and integrity of that evidence from the moment it's captured up until it's presented in a court of law.

With the latest integration features in Evidence.com, TASER says agencies can now seamlessly upload interview room video and crime scene photos in addition to their body camera footage. The end-to-end solution allows for automatic scheduled uploads and enhanced tagging features for managing and sharing data with other nearby police agencies or district attorneys. According to TASER, Evidence.com is the most secure, scalable, and cost-effective solution for managing all types of digital evidence from capture to courtroom.

"Since we started putting body cameras on officers in January of 2013, we’ve received positive results from our officers and the community," says Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank. "However the body camera is just one part of a system that requires secure and efficient video download, storage, and retrieval that meet rigorous evidence standards. To ensure the integrity of the chain of custody, we chose Evidence.com's digital evidence management system. We’re looking forward to implementing a secure end-to-end solution for our department that maintains the chain of custody in a cost effective manner."

'The flood of digital data that comes from on-officer video, dash cameras, and other sources makes cost-effective and simple evidence management a necessity," says Marcus Womack, general manager of Evidence.com. "We’re dedicated to working with police departments, like Salt Lake City and Birmingham, on solutions that will allow them to easily manage all of their data on one system."
