Police Fatalities Rise 13% In 2011
The number of law enforcement officers killed by firearms made 2011 a deadly year for officers now dealing with greater challenges in an already hazardous profession. For the first time in 14 years, the number of officers killed by gunfire (68) surpassed the number killed in traffic-related accidents (64).

The NYPD officer gunned down by a violent ex-con in Brooklyn Monday became the 166th police officer killed in the line of duty this year, a 14% jump from 2010, according to a national law enforcement group.

Glock Donates $2 Million To National LE Museum
Glock donated $2 million to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) during the organization's 20th anniversary gala. The gift was given to the Memorial Fund to help develop an educational and interactive exhibition called "The History Beat" at the National Law Enforcement Museum.
