The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is encouraging law enforcement supporters and the public to register for their fourth annual Law Enforcement Ride & Run to Remember, which will take place on October 11 & 12, on-site in the Washington, DC area or virtually from any location.

67 Law Enforcement Fatalities Nationwide in First Half of 2014
According to preliminary data compiled by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 67 law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty during the first half of 2014. This is a 31% increase over the same period in 2013 (51 officers killed).

For the second year in a row, traffic-related incidents were the leading cause of officer fatalities in the first half of 2014. Twenty-six officers were killed as a result of traffic-related incidents halfway through 2014, increasing 37 percent from the same period in 2013.

Abbreviated Candlelight Vigil Still Powerful, Poignant
This year's ceremony honored a span of fallen heroes from High Sheriff John Cook of the Mecklenburg County (N.C.) Sheriff's Office whose end of watch was in 1804 to MIT Officer Sean Collier who was murdered during last year's manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

2014 Candlelight Vigil Honored 286 Fallen Peace Officers
The names of 286 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty—including 100 who died in 2013—were formally dedicated on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Tuesday evening during the 26th annual Candlelight Vigil.

Police Unity Tour Launches 2014 Bike Ride for Police Week
The Police Unity Tour's motto, "We Ride for Those Who Died," is one that each rider seriously embraces. Participants not only train hard for the 300-mile average bicycle ride, each rider raises more than $1,700 to raise awareness and financial support for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
