A Fremont County, Colorado, Sheriff’s K-9 was found dead on the side of the road last week after he went missing during an incident in the local mountains.
K-9 Watson, a narcotics detection Labrador retriever, ran away on Oct. 1 and was found dead just off a roadway three days later by his handler. Watson was taken to a veterinary clinic where it was determined he had been struck by a vehicle.
Authorities believe he may have run away chasing an animal or been lured away by a person.
After Watson went missing, law enforcement searched for him on foot and with drones.
