Idaho K-9 Killed when Suspect Rams Handler's Vehicle

A Nampa, Idaho, Police K-9 was killed Saturday evening when a suspect reportedly rammed the police SUV he was in and knocked the vehicle off the highway where it rolled over.

K-9 Riddick’s handler, Officer Cody Huss, was injured in the crash. He was treated and released at a local hospital, the department reported on Facebook.

Nampa officers were tipped off about a drug suspect and a pursuit ensued.  

Patrol officers located a vehicle they believed the man was in and attempted a traffic stop, according to the department. Police said officers began to pursue the vehicle when the woman driving it failed to pull over, the Idaho Statesman reports.

The 27-year-old male suspect was arrested on a parole agent’s warrant.

The 33-year-old female driver was arrested on felony charges of battery of a law enforcement officer, eluding law enforcement, trafficking methamphetamine and possessing controlled substances, as well as misdemeanors for possessing psilocybin mushrooms.
