San Jose Community Service Officers Hit by Vehicle, 1 Killed

One of the community service officers was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office on Monday identified the officer as 34-year-old Long Tham Pham.

A San Jose, California, police community service officer was killed and another was injured after they were hit by a vehicle Saturday night while working traffic control, the department said on Sunday.

One of the community service officers was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office on Monday identified the officer as 34-year-old Long Tham Pham, NBC Bay Area reports.

The other officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, SJPD said.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested in the area and police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
