The "man with gun" report that cleared a popular Roanoke (Va.) shopping mall on Friday turned out to be unfounded, as the weapon turned out to be an umbrella.
Roanoke police and state troopers swarmed the large regional shopping center Valley View Mall, and evacuated it at 5 p.m. Monday after two people reported seeing a weapon.
After seeing store surveillance images of himself reported on the local media, the man came forward to report he was carrying a black umbrella rather than a black rifle.
