NYC Kingpin Wrapped Drugs In Carbon Paper To Avoid Detection

The NYPD arrested Ricardo Gonzalez-Santiago, identified as a lieutenant in a Puerto Rican cartel, as he left a Times Square hotel Friday carrying two suitcases stuffed with 36 kilos of cocaine valued at $1.3 million.

The NYPD's arrest of a major cocaine distributor following a 10-month wiretap operation revealed that the man smuggled narcotics through John F. Kennedy Airport by wrapping the packages in carbon paper.

The NYPD arrested Ricardo Gonzalez-Santiago, identified as a lieutenant in a Puerto Rican cartel, as he left a Times Square hotel Friday carrying two suitcases stuffed with 36 kilos of cocaine valued at $1.3 million.

In addition to cocaine, undercover officers traced ketamine, ecstasy and oxycodone distribution to Gonzalez-Santiago.
