In an early Sunday morning raid of an east Hollywood apartment, the Los Angeles Police Department's SWAT unit arrested one of two men suspected of savagely beating a Giants fan at Dodger Stadium.
Officers descended on apartment 25 at 7:10 a.m. Sunday to arrest the man, who was later identified as Giovanni Ramirez, 31, a documented member of the Varrio Nuevo Estrada street gang. A tip from a parole agent led to the arrest, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Bryan Stow, a 42-year-old father of two, was attacked by two men in the Dodger Stadium parking lot following the March 31 home opener. The Santa Clara paramedic remains in critical condition, and recently opened his eyes following a medically induced coma.
Also Sunday morning, a second warrant was served at a house in the Rampart area. Several other people were detained and questioned. Officers collected evidence, according to the LAPD.
