Charleston Police in Standoff with Suspect in South Carolina Deputy's Shooting

Agents from the State Law Enforcement Division, as well as SWAT members from the Charleston Police Department and hostage negotiators are on the scene. The operation started about 4 a.m.

Charleston police have located a suspect in the shooting of a Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputy in Robert Mills Manor on Beaufain Street, according to Charleston police.

Agents from the State Law Enforcement Division, as well as SWAT members from the Charleston Police Department and hostage negotiators are on the scene. The operation started about 4 a.m, the Charleston Post & Courier reports.

Authorities believe the suspect is responsible for the shooting of Berkeley County sheriff’s Lt. Will Rogers. Rogers was shot multiple times about 10:30 p.m. last Thursday by a masked man outside the Exxon gas station at U.S. Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road near Moncks Corner. He remains in critical condition at Medical University Hospital.
