NY Officer Shot Near His Face, Search for Shooter Continues
Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said the officer, identified as Officer Jeremy Nash, 36, was wounded "near the face" and the wound was serious but not life-threatening.

A police officer was shot in northeast Rochester, NY, around 10:45 Saturday night, reports the Democrat and Chronicle.
Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said the officer, identified as Officer Jeremy Nash, 36, was wounded "near the face" and the wound was serious but not life-threatening. Nash, an 11-year veteran of the department, is an officer in the Clinton Section.
Nash was taken to Rochester General Hospital and was in stable condition Sunday, Ciminelli said. Nash has a 3-week-old daughter, said Mayor Lovely Warren.
The Rochester police tactical unit was on scene as the search continued for a suspect. "Right now we are in the midst of a major tactical operation in the northeast part of the city," Ciminelli said. He added, "We expect this to continue for a number of hours."
Irondequoit police, Monroe County sheriff's deputies, and troopers from the New York State Police were assisting Rochester PD.
"Every federal, state, local, county law enforcement partner in this area is helping us now with this operation," Ciminelli said. He said a number of calls from the community had already come in with potentially helpful information.
